Technique
I fit each client based on their individual needs based on detailed information I obtain about their flexibility, previous injuries, riding style, experience, challenges and goals. I work with customers on everything from pedaling technique to hand positions and everything in between.
It may seem strange, but I don’t fit customers on their bikes. That’s because experience taught me I get a much more accurate result using a fit bicycle. The custom fit bicycle in the Millcreek Bicycles shop allows me to have complete control over customer’s position with no compromises – and it does so very efficiently.
For instance, if I was to attempt to fit multiple reaches using a normal bicycle, I could spend 15 minutes just trying to establish a good reach (assuming the bike has the correct top tube length). With the fit cycle I can change position – in any increment – in less than one minute.
Raw fitting data I use to fit my customers includes size, saddle height, saddle fore/aft, seat tube angle, top tube, stem, reach, reach to hoods, bar width, bar drop. Within the fitting I also perform cleat placement and a pedal stroke analysis.
Using experienced gained from thousands of fits, I am able to confidently match the correct frame configuration to whatever type of riding my customers prefer. – Mike Hanseen, owner, Millcreek Bicycles
